Golden or hyped?

This site all came about after an argument in a pub over how good the ‘golden generation’ of England players really were.

Some of us tried to put together a squad from all england players since Spain 82. Not many of the ‘golden generation’ made it.

So we decided to let others have their say too and compare players from past and present. Was Hoddle better than Beckham? Is Owen better than Greaves and is Lampard any good?

We don’t claim to have all the answers, (or even all the players) but with your help we might just find out who’s decent and who wouldn’t even get a place in your sunday league team.

    ah well, the site’s called goodfootballerornot which is quite long enough without adding ‘manager’ in there.

    Besides there’s only one manager in my opinion, the rest are just amateurs
