Help / FAQ

We hope that you’ll find goodfootballer.com easy to use, but in case you have a problem here are some pointers.

“Who’s Albert Smithson?”

The site has records of any player who has played for one of today’s premier league clubs. This includes the old players before the premier league started. (yes sky armchair fans, there was football before 1992). If you want to see players from a particular club or era then you need to filter.

“filter? how?”

On the left hand side you should see a section titled ‘Filters’. Under this are 3 menu’s and one search box. You can use one of the menu’s to do the following

  • Filter by team:- only show players from selected team
  • Filter by decade:- only show players from the selected decade
  • Filter by position:- only show players who play in a particular position (GK, defenders, midfielders and strikers)

After you have selected one of the options in a menu you should see that the players who appear are now filtered. You should also see that on the left hand side ‘Filters’ becomes ‘Your Filters’ and that your filters are listed below (e.g. Decade:- 70’s [x]) To remove a filter just click on the red ‘x’ next to it.

Where’s Ronaldo/Rooney/Gerrard/latestpinupboy

If you want to find a particular player your best bet is to use the search on the left hand side of the main page. It’s snappily called ‘Search for players’ and like ronseal it does exactly what it says on the tin. Go on give it a go.

Where’s Vivian Woodwood or our 1901 cup winning captain?

If you cannot find a player in our site, even after using the search box then the chances are that he either played less than 20 games for your club or we’ve left him out by mistake.

Let’s face it it’s more likely to be the latter. We do not pretend to be an authoritative source on this, it’s just a bit of fun.

If we have left out your favourite player of all time them you can suggest that we add him. Please do.

Why is Bobby Moore listed in Fulham?

We’ve tried to reduce the number of clubs for each player to one, their main one. So for someone like Bobby Moore it’s easy, he’s Fulha.., OK he’s West Ham. Others are not so easy. Where for example do we put Nicolas Anelka who must have played for half the premiership by now?

So the player you are looking for might be listed under another club. Use the search box on the left hand side of the main page to look for them.

If you think we’ve listed a player in the wrong club (and hey, i’m sure we have loads of times) then you can try to claim them back by suggesting a new club
